Attending conferences can be costly, especially for students who are often working on a limited budget. In addition to the general student discount, eligible students may be able to receive an additional funding through the below grants, if they are presenting at the congress in some capacity (oral or poster).
Interested students are invited to submit their applications until 15 June 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by 15 July 2025.
DGHT Grant
DGHT Funding for Student Participation at the SEH2025 Congress
The German Society for Herpetology and Herpetoculture (DGHT) is pleased to announce a special funding initiative for students to participate in the 23rd European Congress of Herpetology, which will take place from 8 to 12 September 2025 in Bonn, Germany.
The DGHT aims to support motivated students who wish to actively participate in the congress by presenting an outstanding research topic. The focus of the funded contributions should be on endangered species, species conservation, population protection, or habitat conservation of amphibians and/or reptiles. An expert panel will evaluate the applications and select those of particularly high quality.
With this initiative, the DGHT seeks to encourage young scientists to present their research findings on an international stage and contribute to advancing amphibian and reptile conservation efforts.
Funding details
Students and postdocs (up to 3 years after their PhD, exceptions are possible in case of maternity/parental leave) can apply. The grant covers the registration fee for the congress and offers a subsidy towards travel costs if applicable. A maximum total of 500€ will be awarded per successful applicant. Eligibility requires active participation with a presentation that has been deemed particularly valuable by the scientific committee. Both oral and poster presentation are eligible, but oral presentation are likely to be favoured. Presentations must address scientifically grounded aspects of amphibian or reptile conservation.
